Pre and Post Natal Yoga

Yoga has been used for centuries to bring our minds and bodies to state of well being. In many countries prenatal yoga is considered the only option to stay flexible, relieve stress and prepare for child birth.

Whether you are new to yoga or have an established practice, you can enjoy the benefits of yoga during and after pregnancy.

Pre Natal Yoga

By stretching and preparing your muscles to do their job for child birth, you inherently make birthing process easier. Not to mention the relaxation skills that you can use during labor after months of practicing.

Yoga can also help you relieve the discomforts caused by pregnancy. There are poses for sciatic pain, round ligament pain even morning sickness. Many women begin yoga during pregnancy and find that their postpartum recovery is faster and easier.

Our classes will be designed to celebrate the divine femininity shining through all stages of pregnancy (pre and post) while developing strength and flexibility to empower you through pregnancy, labor and birth.

Post Natal Yoga

Our Post-Natal yoga classes will support you during the first days of giving birth, the next six weeks and three months while your body goes through the changes of motherhood and tries to return to its natural state.

Recover from the effects of pregnancy and child birth, rebuild strength, ease strain from carrying your baby and regain your shape with postnatal yoga.

It will help strengthen the entire body and will specifically focus on neck and shoulders, abdominals, low back and pelvis and the nervous system.

Benefits of Pre- and Post- Natal Yoga

  • Strengthens the back, abdominal and pelvic floor muscles
  • Releases tension in shoulders and neck muscles
  • Helps to improve posture
  • Decreases overall stress and promotes relaxation
  • Rejuvenates the mind and increases energy
  • Creates a safe environment to bond with baby
  • Keeps you connected to Yoga so you are able to transition to your yoga practice in a regular setting

Additionally, post-natal practice stimulates the pituitary gland, promoting a healthy supply of breast milk.

You can begin post-natal classes four weeks after a vaginal birth and six weeks after a Cesarean birth.

Moms are welcome to bring their babies to class and many have found that the classes serve them until their babies are actively crawling and preclude the parent's active participation in class.

There are a few things to avoid in order to make your pregnancy yoga experience safe and enjoyable and that is why is so important to have an experienced prenatal yoga teacher and the consent from your doctor before you begin any type of yoga classes.
