Vinyasa is a form of Hatha Yoga. Vinyasa is a Sanskrit word where Nyasa means “to place” and Vi means “in a special way”.
Vinyasa Yoga is a dynamic and energetic practice where we link breath with movement. We create a flow from one pose to the next and the poses are tied together in sequences that create heat to cleanse the body while the mind is calm.
We start a Vinyasa practice by setting an Intention, creating a meaningful focus for our practice. This encourages us to turn inwards and to listen to our inner voice, to listen to the teacher within and to pay attention to the present moment. Through a Vinyasa practice we not only get in touch with our inner self but it also helps to create a balance between strength and flexibility, movement and stillness, awareness and alignment that can also help us in our daily lives.
